The EndoPAT system non-invasively evaluates the health of the endothelium–the lining of the blood vessels throughout the body. The health of the endothelium is a vital indicator of overall cholesterol plaque burden, arterial function and cardiovascular risk. Abnormal, endothelial function is generally an indication of diffuse blood vessel damage from cholesterol buildup and vascular inflammation. It is often the earliest detectable sign for blood vessel and vascular dysfunction. A healthy endothelium is a key component in preventing further plaque buildup and inflammatory damage. This study is clinically well-validated and a valuable portion of the PCNY comprehensive cardiovascular evaluation.
